The Nippon Communications Foundation was honored to welcome Arab Republic of Egypt Ambassador to Japan Ragui El-Etreby to our Tokyo office on February 19, 2026. Ambassador El-Etreby, who assumed his post in September 2025, met with foundation president Akasaka Kiyotaka and Nippon.com staff. He expressed his strong expectations for further cultural cooperation between the two countries, highlighting the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in November 2025 as a new symbol of Japan–Egypt collaboration.

Ambassador El-Etreby also spoke about cooperation in the field of education, represented by institutions such as the Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology and the Egypt-Japan School that have introduced Japanese-style education with support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency. He expressed his commitment to promoting closer ties across a wide range of areas, including investment, and shared his thoughts on Egypt’s current development and efforts to deepen understanding of the strategic partnership between Japan and Egypt.
