Swiss Ambassador Andreas Baum Visits Our Tokyo Office

The Nippon Communications Foundation was honored to welcome Swiss Ambassador Andreas Baum at our Tokyo office on March 5, 2024. The ambassador met with foundation president Akasaka Kiyotaka and discussed the strength of Japanese-Swiss relations, particularly in the field of business and technology. The two countries are also grappling with a number of similar social issues, including aging populations, and Ambassador Baum drew attention to a recent talk event at Tokyo’s University of Creativity by Swiss Center for Design and Health exploring questions of well-being and longevity from a design perspective.

The two countries are leaders in the development of new hydrogen technologies, and Ambassador Baum spoke about the Embassy of Switzerland in Japan and Switzerland Global Enterprise hosting a Swiss Pavilion to present cutting-edge Swiss hydrogen technology at a smart energy expo held in Tokyo at the end of February. The ambassador said that the embassy has committed to running a pavilion at World Expo 2025 in Osaka and is busy preparing for the event.
