Nicaraguan Ambassador Visits Our Tokyo Office

The Nippon Communications Foundations was honored to welcome Nicaragua Ambassador Sandy Anabell Davila Sandoval at our Tokyo office on January 25, 2024. The ambassador met with foundation president Akasaka Kiyotaka and discussed Japan-Nicaraguan relations, including a recent goodwill tour to Nicaragua by the Yomiuri Giants women’s baseball team that included friendly match with the Nicaraguan national team and a training clinic for elementary school children. Ambassador Davila described baseball as her country’s “national sport.”

Both Japan and Nicaragua are benefiting from a growth in tourism, and Akasaka suggested that a hotel management and hospitality school in Tokyo that he is acquainted with send students to visit the Nicaraguan Embassy, an offer that the ambassador warmly welcomed.

Akasaka and Davila also shared ideas on furthering ties between their two countries. The ambassador said she frequently visits’s Spanish site and looks forward to supporting the foundation going forward.

Ambassador Davila also attended the event Sabakeru: Sustainable Culture from the Japanese Kitchen, held at a Tokyo cooking on November 29, 2023.
