The Nippon Communication Foundation was honored to welcome Indian Ambassador to Japan Sibi George at our Tokyo office on September 30, 2024. The ambassador, who assumed his post in 2022, met with foundation president Akasaka Kiyotaka and discussed Japan-India relations, among other topics. Ambassador George has travelled throughout Japan and expressed particular concern for residents of quake-stricken areas on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture following recent torrential rains there.
He lauded the vibrancy and strong work ethic of Indians, which Japan has benefitted from amid its growing need for IT engineers. Discussing security matters, George stressed that as a member of the Quad alongside Japan, Australia, and the United States, India is in a unique position with its different approach to international relations and brings diversity to the strategic security dialogue. The ambassador also shared views on political developments including Japan-India political dialogues and high level exchanges. The visit wrapped up with the ambassador heralding the strength of Japan-India ties and expressing hopes for further partnerships in both the public and private sectors.
